Evan Thomas has an interesting story in Newsweek on how the CIA is getting back into the game in Afghanistan. Not sure if it's so or if he's being used as a press agent:

Looks like a media campaign. The Wall Street Journal had a long, well written and laudatory article on the CIA early this past week. It presented itself as investigative journalism, something they are quite good at, but the article read more like a carefully crafted pr piece.

I wondered then about the timing. Is it budget voting time on the hill? Is the CIA worried about some negative story about to be published? Or just going about its business of telling its story as best it can?

Not able to tell.
