So Paul... based upon your travels to the region, do you have a sense that the Palestinians emphasize a Philistine linkage to their culture?? I never heard that theory. I did hear that they were excavating trying to prove that the Jews have no claim to the land that they are descended from the Caananites. Archeology being what it is -- mostly scholars engaged in pissing contests -- there will never be an answer. For a feel for how archeology has descended to, get a subscription to Biblical Archeology Review. I subscribe for a while, get aggravated and let it lapse, and try again a few years later and repeat the process.
