In my opinion, AP reporting has the highest presumption of validity, along with New York Times, Washington Post, BBC, Times of London, et al.. I am aware of the problems with UP. Despite the aspersions cast at Reuters, I put it on the same level as AP.

The people who sneer at AP seem to like Debka. Chacun a son gout and all that.

Obviously for any story, the more input, the better.

>>>> I've read contradictory stuff about the AP but most of it is low key.<<<<

Would like to know more about the contradictory stuff even if "most of it is low key." Since I worked for AP on two continents in my younger days and still have friends and a family member in a wire service, we all have criticisms about aspects of coverage. Sure would like to know more from you about the "contradictory stuff you've read. Many thanks, John.
