Well it is true what you say about the yahoo boards, and it is something that bothers me at times about the golds. That is why I am always asking friends and family to try and gather other anecdotal evidence. It seems to be a hard thing to really get a grasp on though.

I am not sure however of the accuracy of the yahoo message board indicator, as it can reach extreme levels and not mean much as during the late 1990's on the love stocks.
One thing I try to do is go to the CSCO, IBM and other popular stock boards and see if people are touting gold stocks on those boards. Again an imperfect measurement.

But to agree with your point somewhat, one of the stocks that you listed in your stock screen a few posts ago listed a company I am a bit familiar with, SAH. My father owns some shares in payment for doing some attorney work for them, so I check the board and follow the stock in an informal matter. The stock has done as well, or better than any gold stock (up about 350% YOY), and yet gets maybe one or two posts on it's yahoo board a day. Some days none.

Not sure what it all means however...

>>Read the Yahoo boards and tell me these people aren't the public.

Grace, you may be a good financial advisor - maybe even a truly great one - but it seems that you haven't much experience with market research or opinion analysis. Then again, maybe I've been wasting my time all of these years with fancy surveys and experimental designs. I could have just done the analytics on Yahoo message board posts. -g-
