MADRID (Reuters) - A powerful car bomb exploded outside an oil company's headquarters in Madrid early on Monday, damaging vehicles and shattering windows in an attack that bore the hallmarks of Basque separatist group ETA.

Officials said the bomb, estimated to contain about 15 kg (33 lbs) of explosives, caused no injuries, but three people had to be treated for shock and a fourth was taken to hospital after suffering a heart attack, officials said.

Spanish police said the bomb, placed in a red Ford Fiesta, exploded at about 1 a.m. (2300 GMT) in northern Madrid, close to the Paseo de la Castellana, the capital's busy central artery. The car had been left at the entrance to the car park of the Repsol YPF headquarters, a five-storey glass-facaded building.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast, but ETA has carried out many similar attacks. The target of the bomb was not immediately clear.
