you know, everybody is waiting for technology spending to increase in the consumer (i.e., telecom, handsets, etc.) sectors as proof positive that IT is improving.

i think the next generation of tech spending is going to come in the business sector. this will so up as an increase in cap-ex but not to telecoms but to basic industry. telecom has to go through a digestion period that will include merger and acquistions and bankruptcies.

lastly, i think companies to keep track of to give us an indication of how IT is doing is orcl, sap, ibm, sunw, to name a few. companies like wcom, t, nok, etc. are having indigestion that will continue to because of over capacity.
