<<Huh? Buying up rental units or a franchise or starting a small home based business doesn't position you for retirement? This is investing in its purest form. How many people sell off a family run biz and retire on that?>>

Uhh, hello McFly??? Yea, it's INVESTING, not saving. Please take an econ course.

BTW we're talking about people who WORK for a living and what they do with the extra money....

<<How many people do you know who took that early retirement package and now are going out of their minds? You can only play so many rounds of golf. >>

Not many actually.... but I may not be representative... the ones I now do charity work, community service stuff, some teach, and most have started getting into music, arts, and their family and friends.

<<Boomers are about to find out that they need to work and that there's no one that will hire them because businesses would rather hire someone who isn't fifty plus.>>

Soooo.........??? Maybe they should have saved! ho ho ho

Hi Grace, <<Boomers are about to find out that they need to work and that there's no one that will hire them ... forced to start businesses of their own>>

Most new start businesses fail, and so what you are predicting, if come true, can hardly qualify as bullish news.

<<How many people do you know who took that early retirement package and now are going out of their minds?>>

Plenty, and taking a risk on starting a new business would certainly pep matters up in a hurry, along with burn-rate and heart beat rate.
