I think the highest volume microprocessor should always be considered the "standard" and lower volume microprocessors whould have a performance rating based on it.

This makes the most sense from a consumer point of view.

If AMD+Banias ever got above 1/3 market share, the computer industry would DEMAND it and they would come up with an agreed-upon benchmark.

BMW Re...It's as good a reason as any for Intel to quit the megahertz hype while they still have time. I've always thought that it would be a successful move if Intel could trump AMD with some sort of "TPI" of their own.<<<<<<<

Frankly, being someone who has sold things, even if it is just cement, you always look for an advantage. Intel will hype performance over mhz on Banias probably because performance from a PIII takes less power than equal performance from a mhz centered P4. Where power is less important, Intel will hype mhz.
