Thanks for the links.

1961, 1967 and 1975 were the last times I was in Bangkok.
I was told by frequent travellers that Bangkok has changed "immeasurably" for the better since then.

A lot has been said about the holiday resorts along the coast of Thailand and especially the island of Phuket. Folks say that the seafood there is fantastic and the prices very affordable.

Present-day Thailand is well-known, especially in SE Asia, for its relatively cheap but good medical and dental services. Even folks from Singapore go there for treatments. Surgical and dental procedures cost just a fraction of the arm-and-a-leg costs in Singapore and elsewhere.

Old fogeys, like many folks are on GPM, will do well to "rejuvenate" themselves in Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai in the arms of those innocent-looking lovely babes. <ggg>

BTW, when one Lieutenant Nugent and his wife (the younger daughter of the late Prez Johnson) were holidaying in Thailand (ca. 1970) while he was on leave from his Vietnam posting, he could do nothing on his own. Poor fellow! Day and night, he and the Prez's daughter were watched by a special unit of the secret service assigned to protect them. He could do nothing more than go shopping and go riding atop the huge tusker elephants with his wife. What lost opportunities for him, eh?
