Those would be ill-equipped to handle the latest Windows XP operating system and Office software from Microsoft (NasdaqNM:MSFT - news), plus security and anti-virus software all at the same time, as most companies require.


I can vouch for this. I am running a 550MHz machine with two large (at the time) graphics cards and 2 monitors. I use W98 with Office2002(xp). If I turn on all the features of OfficeXP such as voice recognition, then my system gets fairly slow when I run other applications. I imagine the resource hungry WindowsXP combined with OfficeXP would really be slow on my machine which I bought in 1999...

BTW, the newest version of Netscape Navigator (Netscape 6.2.1 ) seems to really slow my system down at times also. Anyone else notice that?
