JDN,

No reason other than that is what I decided to do last week. Sell 1/3 on Thursday, 1/3 on Friday and the rest today.
I am not buying individual stocks in the near future. The proceeds will go into a couple of mutual funds that I opened 3 weeks ago with Vanguard. EMC was the last of my individual stocks. Except for Costco (my wife loves to shop there) and Washington Mutual (that is where I do my banking) I am now completely out of individual stocks. Perhaps I will again buy stocks whenever I have the desire to spend the time and effort. I agree with you; better days will come. Companies like EMC, SUNW, CSCO etc will eventually recover. I will certainly be pulling for them.
For now I want to be physically but not mentally active
