len, I am assuming that you are referring to the Orthodox Jews in an English speaking country. Elsewhere, they use another word than God, and many still try to use a name similar to Yaweh. Language can play tricks on us all. It has been determined by those well versed in translation, that Jesus is, in fact, a Greek word, and that His Hebrew, or Aramaic, name was something like Yeshua, which is the same as Joshua to us. Be that as it may, a name is of little importance. The being that the name is connected to is the main consideration, IMO.

Thanks for the reply.

I found a reference to the idea that Orthodox Jews do not write out the full name of God because that would make the piece of paper it was written on holy and therefore the paper could not be thrown out or destroyed. So if it's typed out on a computer screen does the whole computer become Holy?
