I did not know that. I seem to recall that during the communist era, Russia was very wasteful with natural resources. THe inside of the country was shielded from outside world, and the prices for gas were very low. Albert could probably comment more.


Joe, I think it was steam coming from their generating plants. Unfortunately, the pipes bringing in the steam were in pretty bad shape so they were not as effective as the could be.

The country that has it the best is Iceland. Their heat is steam piped from hot springs......probably its the same price as water.........not bad.
