Monty: Note the upgrade of LU today:

finance.yahoo.com

"12:00AM Lucent Tech upgraded at Piper Jaffray (LU) 4.53 +0.24: -- Update -- USB Piper Jaffray upgrades to MKT PERFORM from Underperform, saying they see no negative catalysts; lowers FY02 rev/EPS ests to $14.1 bln/($0.51) from $14.6 bln/($0.50) and FY03 to $14.7 bln/($0.08) from $15.5 bln/($0.01)."

An upgrade to market perform, with lowered estimates.

Morningstar's advice:

biz.yahoo.com

"Despite all of Lucent's recent streamlining, investors are better off waiting until conditions improve in the telecommunications industry, or the shares fall well below Morningstar's fair value of $5, said Morningstar stock analyst Jay Ritter."

Another name for the permabulls in the headline here: "Credulous investors."
