Christian right appears to be solidly behind Israel

The Christian right isn't supporting Judaism on this issue. Judaism presents no threat to Christianity. The former does not try to disprove Christianity publicly and repeatedly, nor does it proselytize extensively. Right wing Christians in the US are getting behind the state of Israel because they militant Islam, and even just plain Islam, as a serious threat to their dominance in the more powerful and advanced cultures. Islam has membership approaching a billion, on par if not ahead of Christian membership. Islam is a force in countries the west is dependent upon for oil Militant Islam is trying to spread their faith by proselytizing and jihad. Saudi Arabia is building mosques across the globe. The Saudis also train clerics for these mosques at Saudi schools. Islams are trying to gain power by taking over nations at the periphery of the core muslim world. Moslems are pushing for Sharia law in Nigeria, Uzbekistan, and a few other countries. Islamic military forces are battling Christian forces in Sudan and Phillipines.

The battlefront today is Israel, but if Israel falls, the arab nations will push their militant undesirables into conflicts to expand the Muslim world. The Christian right support of Israel is really about foresight about a clash of cultures. Judaism is the current target of militant Islam. Christianity will be next.

We need to wait to see whether the church leadership is there; and whether the congregants are.

Yeah, this is one you will never get a right answer to on a poll. I never heard my father say one word against Jews, but when he got over 80 he would turn off the TV or change the channel if a person he knew was Jewish came on.

But I think the practical political outlook will continue to be 70% pro-Israel.
