Ibexx:

...I would have to say that it might not be fair to compare the margins of NOK with those of Qualcomm...

That wasn't my point - I was trying to show the trends in QCOM's and NOK's businesses over the last year or so, and drawing some inferences about where things were headed.

More on the relative contributions of QCT and QTL to QCOM's revenues/profits later - both historical and future.

Ib - Not so many years ago NOK was an outdoor worker making boots for the Soviet Army!

1. Last year and this year I have refused to believe the global handset numbers. They are simply too large for the lagacy systems.

2. The Koreans are going to compete very hard with NOK. I would back the Koreans except......

3. A few months ago the Chinese announced that by the year 05 or 04, I forget which, they are going to be the biggest manufacturers of they are going to make 25% of all the Worlds handsets. They also gave an expected global handset number of 700m pa. I believe the Chinese. I think they will go for a production level of 25% of the annual estimate.

The problem is I don't believe the estimate so 25% of 700 is 175m and I reackon the World market at around 400m if we are lucky to be sustainable. Now you have the Chinese at about half the World capacity and the Koreans going hard at it. NOK is going to have a hard time especially if those 400m are moving gradually to cdma.

Best,

L
