Mani,

He is one of the people they like to call xenophobic. He is against immigration, French first, Euro sceptic. The immigration in France is mainly from Algeria, plus some other former colonies, but mainly Arab and Muslim. They are the main target of his dislike, and the "mainstream" politicians who allowed this immigration to France, which used to be a homogeneous nation, but now, has acquired a fair number of immigrants.

Every article includes the mandatory anti-semitic statement from his past, but that's not really his agenda. He is mainly anti-immigrant and anti-Arab/Muslim, and I have read just recently, that he tried to portray himself as a defender of Jews in France, who are under increasing number of attacks in France nypost.com

Also, the immigrants in France are associated with increasing crime rate, and Le Pen likes to portray himself as very anti-crime.

Actually, here is a good article on the subject: economist.com
