Del, building a large structure to support the size and weight of the blades is simply a question of stress and the strength of materials. Building things that spin with stress is quite common. You use hundreds of such items every day. OK so you live in a mud hut and don't. I'd guess that a lot of the work being done is really funded as PR and eco-science projects. Building a tech toy is always a worthwhile endeavor. The only negative is that the techno retards will import some grand significance to an otherwise mundane task.
