It is because nobody wants the 64MB modules. The laptops only take 2 modules and people want 256MB in general. But $400 still sounds pretty expensive for 128MB. Try shopping at Dell or EBay.

customized just for Dell. In BestBuy,...CompuUSA... you
get 128MB notebook memory for less than $80 after rebate.
