Puddle,

I just recently started using ProTA, again. I'd given up on it in favor of online sites such as IQC and Stockcharts. After noticing that ProTA was updating their web site again, I decided to give it another look. Because it lacks intraday charts, I still prefer Stockcharts, of which I'm an Extra member. I get my real time data from my broker, RJ Thompson. They provide an excellent free charting service that is Mac compatible. As far as I know, they are the only broker that does. The real time charts are only provided for the current trading day and can be drawn in: tick,1,5,10 and 15 minute charts that are instantly update, not 1 minute delayed as in IQC. I haven't found a way to transfer end of day data from here to ProTA. The main purpose for which I'm using ProTA, is system development and testing. For this, it doesn't matter if the data is a day late. If I decide I need end of day data for the 25-40 stocks on my daily watch list, for use in ProTA, I'd have a serious look at using BeeSoft's data service.

I wish B. Xu provided more historical performance data on his trading system. I'll keep checking his daily commentary.

Mac Oliver

End of Day from Yahoo to ProTA
First create a portfolio on Yahoo. Set to DayWatch format then click on Download Spreadsheet on the lower right and save the file quote.csv.
Then run a Macro to parse the data, copy and save it to a simple text file.
Open the file from ProTA--select settings on the Universal Text Importer.
I can provide a sample Macro--using F8 and watch it step through its paces. Once you see how it works then you can make your changes.
