Re: "I don't consider Karen Hughes a politician per se."

C'mon.

Ask yourself how she climbed to the top of her profession: (1) By being a good little Texas homemaker who baked brownies after church on Sundays; or (2) by being able to out-think, out-cuss, out-maneuver, out-joke, out-drink, out-shaft and out-bullshit the competition?

By leaving now, Ms. Hughes can rake in two years' worth of major "consulting" money in case GWB is not re-elected in '04.

It's a game all these politicos play, Moe. If you wish to believe that Ms. Hughes is abandoning politics for "family values," then add this fairy tale to your already long list.

LMAO. I suppose you don't consider Karl Rove...

...to be one, either.

Ms. Hughes is getting her ass away from the corrupt stench she worked so hard to create -- for the sole, selfish purpose of her own self-enrichment -- financial enrichment, mind you, 'moenmac,' which has nothing to do with the posturing, pandering spin to the RWE of 'morals' or 'family values.'

They're all out for themselves. That's why they like the Repuglican party. Crooked as the day is long.

She knows and/or fears what's coming that you -- and the rest of us -- don't.

There is no other reason that she would resign.

Will the GOP be able to maintain its control of the House come November, or will Dick Gephardt be referred to as "Mr. Speaker"?

Latest Zogby numbers:

Democrats have assumed a strong lead among voters in the 2002 race for Congress. Democratic candidates are the choice of 36% of the respondents, with Republican candidates the choice of 30%. Another 4% choose neither party's candidate, and 31% are not sure.

In March, the race for Congress was a dead heat , with Democratic candidates the choice of 33%, and Republicans candidates the choice of 32%. Another 4% said neither and 32% were not sure.
