Not exactly like corn. Forests that are worthy of harvesting take decades to grow, whereas corn grows in a single season. Harvestable forest land is DECREASING, not being replenished at the same rate as they are harvested. Just check in with any tree-hugging environmentalist and they'll tell you the same thing. That means lumber is a great supply and demand play, meaning defensively it's hard to go wrong over the long term. Also, since lumber has tangible value and many applications, it's a stronger play than gold. Anyway, I hope my endorsement doesn't make you change your mind. :)
