If you can't think of why people would want and use photo/video capability on their cellphone, consider:

(1) "Mom, can I buy this shirt with your Visa?" "No, you're not going to go around wearing a shirt like that."

(2) "Honey, check out this great save Ashley (or Jennifer or Kyle or Hunter or Morgan) made."

(3) "Say hello to my family."

(4) "Honey, let me talk to the dog for a second."

(5) "Honey, your rook is in check."

(6) "Hold on a second, my tech guy wants to show me how to do the new workaround."

(7) "Honey . . . ."

Re : "lukewram" on cameras on cellphones -- when I first heard that wireless carriers actually charge money for people to download "distinctive" (musical) ring tones for their phones ...

My reaction was : I would never pay anything for this.

But, lots of people do.

I assume some people would have a lot of fun with these cameras on the phones.

Jon.

I can envision it being very popular with families that have children; particularly in the US where most extended families now live far apart. On vacation, at the soccer game, beach or graduation - just snap some photos and e-mail em off to the grandparents. It's convenient (no filmprocessing or downloading of files on to the PC), cheap and instantaneous.

I am much less excited about incorporating a camera into a phone.

One industry that might use this is the real estate appraisal business. Take the picture(s) of the house and immediately send it to office for processing into appraisal. This industry has already made switch to digital cameras in a big way. I think instant wireless photo communication might be another leap in productivity.

Also, what about claims adjusting to speed up that process?

More importantly, until you have the capability, the biggest uses often don't show up. Once you have the capability, they do.
