hmaly, As we have seen there are excellent, but costly ways to remove the heat, single crystal diamond being one. When ASPs were $500+ you could spend more on the heat solution.
Now with theASPs of common parts under $100 you need to save bucks at every point. hence the organic socket.
the organic socket is not as good for heat as the ceramic and this has led to attaching the heat sink to the die directly or via a spreader with compound in between. It is a matter of time before they all go to direct metal soldering of the die to the spreader as methods and alloys get better just for that improved thermal conductivity from continuous metal heat path.
