The Bhopal disaster caused by Union Carbide killed 3,800 immediately after the gas leak and it is estimated that 10,000 have died to date as a result of the gas leak. The San Francisco Earthquake has estimates from 500-3000 as a death toll at a time when the total population of SF was 400,000. Also 28,000 buildings were destroyed. These are just two of hundreds of examples of disasters that equaled or exceeded 9/11 in terms of trauma.
