IMO, Europeans have an entirely different attitude about work, IN GENERAL. So what's the problem? Different strokes for different folks. I think 6 wks vacation is wonderful too, but I will (and did) work up to that level, and meanwhile enjoy the standard of living in this country.

I work for an international company and when Europeans come to the US for a two year stint, for example, they still get their six weeks vacation when here!

It's the hardship duty pay differential that I'd object to. <g>
