In a nutshell, he believes that it suicide to show weakness in the Middle East.

That is certainly true while Islamism is in the ascendancy. Offering compromises to Islamism, as with other political totalitarian systems, is not only mistaken but deeply counter productive, for it is only read as weakness. Containment or confrontation are the only viable choices.

This view is the one thing that gives me hope as I have no doubt that once the tallying ends, the radical Palestinians and their friends will realize that they have suffered yet another terrible defeat

Which they will again proclaim as victory. But if a new generation gets into power, they just might look at things differently.
