RIYADH, 24 April — Saudi troops are carrying out routine exercises in northwest of the Kingdom, an official Defense Ministry source said yesterday, denying press reports that Riyadh was mobilizing its forces in the region in response to the Israeli escalation. “These maneuvers are part of military activities carried out by the Saudi armed forces throughout the year in the Kingdom’s military regions,” the source told the Saudi Press Agency.

New border openings between Saudi Arabia, Iraq
Saudi Arabia-Iraq, Politics, 4/23/2002

The Saudi daily al-Jazira said in its Monday's issue, quoting well-informed sources that preparations have started to open border outlets between Saudi Arabia and Iraq to permit the transit of Saudi commodities to the Iraqi territories, according to the oil for food program.

Worthy mentioning that " Jdedeyat Ar'ar " is considered one of the most important border outlets between Saudi Arabia and Iraq, which is of great importance for businessmen in the two states for shortening the distance, which they used to pass to send their commodities through it.
