Petz,

.NET for techies is the .NET Framework + development tools to take advantage of it (Visual Studio.NET).

In addition to that, it is a marketing catchword Microsoft uses for just about everything these days, specifically, it will be the product name of the next version of the Server family of products.

Windows Server.NET (about 4 versions of these) will be available at the beginning of 2003. It is the first product to officially support Itanium (but curiously, I found out that it will not support the .NET Framework running on Itanium).

It would be a huge coup for AMD if the .NET servers included support for Hammer. This would actually put Hammer on equal footing with Itanium. But it may be a little too optimistic to expect that.
