I'd say there's a good chance 2-way Opteron will make it by 1st half 2003, even if AMD paper-launches it. Remember that multiprocessor systems don't need to be launched into high volume.

I doubt the performance will blow Xeon out of the water. But if AMD gets a few points of marketshare, they'll make a small fortune, as well they should.

As for 4-way Opteron, that looks like a money-losing pilot, unless they have some secret launch partner footing most of the bill. Maybe they do? I don't know.
