Amazing that noone has jumped on this in 2 hours and 50 posts. They clearly said in the presentation that Clawhammer, to be called an Athlon, will ship in Q4, while the Triceratopteron, which is Sledge, will ship in the first half of 2003.

It's called denial.

What happened to Q1'03? The prelude to another slip...

Perhaps my memory is going, but I thought the first k8's were expected in Q4 2002, that's what is going to happen. I'm not sure I see the problem here.

Not quite what I was expecting...

They really seem to be going after the high end. I suppose that's part of Dirk's deal - he must have wanted to finish what he started at DEC.

If that glueless 4-way and 8-way is for real, then it does look like a pretty inviting pair of systems. A board for $500, plus 4 chips for $2,000 or 8 chips for $4,000.

A case / power supply for the 4-way would be $600 and $800 for the 8-way.

The 4-way would have 8 64-bit channels and the 8-way would have 16 64-bit memory channels.

A configured 4-way could start at less than $5,000. A configured 8-way could start at $8,000 or so.

Memory bandwidth on the 8-way would be 42.6 gigabytes per second....

Not bad for under $10,000....

A Dell with 8 900mhz PIIIs and 16 256meg Dimms is $70,000.

Hasn't this been the roadmap for months?
