John,

OK, where is Paul when we need him. We desperately need a nickname for "Opteron".

Here's one:

Elmer, 1st shipments of Opterons in 1st half of 2003
What happened to Q1'03? The prelude to another slip...
Amazing that noone has jumped on this in 2 hours and 50 posts. They clearly said in the presentation that Clawhammer, to be called an Athlon, will ship in Q4, while the Triceratopteron, which is Sledge, will ship in the first half of 2003.

A little ungainly, but I didn't take any time thinking about it.

"OK, where is Paul when we need him. We desperately need a nickname for "Opteron"."

Some of the ones I've been using over on the Mind Control AMD thread:

"Octogon," just to show how confusing the name is.

"Opticon," as in Panopticon, or with an emphasis on "Con."

"Octoroon," because it's a half-breed.

Knowing Paul, but not having talked to him today, my guess is that he would call it something like "Flopteron."
