These are plausible reasons why homosexuals in that age were not greeted with wrath and opprobrium. The most plausible reason, though, would simply be that these people lived in close-knit interrelated family groups. The homosexual individual would be one of "us", not one of "them"; they would have known that individual from birth. Of course that individual would also be productive in any possible way; there was no other option in those days. But I think the reasons for acceptance were likely less logical than emotional: the tribe does not generally discard one of its own.
