No I'm a progressive capitalist, thinking long-term not about yesterday or next week. Short-sightedness always costs more. Always costs more to fix it later than keep the damage from happening in the first place. Examples: Superfund for toxins, S+L debacle, 9/11, endangered species, over-fishing, Catholic priest fondling boys, too many without health insurance, credit card mentality and now oil reliance.

All of these problems should have been addressed much earlier. because they weren't they ended up costing much-much more. Now with Bush-Cheney in charge we are looking backward on the energy issue. Why? Because B-C are owned and operated by the energy cartel. Because of special interest corruption which campaign finance reform only begins to address.

We should have learned during and after the 70's Arab oil embargo but sometimes we don't really learn until we HAVE to deal with it, sometimes after it's too late. And ANWAR is no solution. It's just taking another fix from the addict's needle to prolong the dependency. Time to quit in the next 10 years. Starting now. Unfortunately though we have to wait until Bush-Cheney are out, and they will be thanks to energy scandals which have not yet hit the front pages. But they will. They can shred, stonewall and cover-up only for so long.
