Dollar, Little Changed, May Fall; Reports Show Growth Slowing

Tokyo, April 25 (Bloomberg) -- The dollar, little changed at a five-week low against the yen, may decline further on reports showing U.S. durable goods orders and new home sales dropped, adding evidence the pace of growth is slowing.

The U.S. currency fell to 129.44 yen from 129.61 in New York yesterday. Against the euro, it hovered around a three-month low at 89.23.

``We're revising our previous view that the U.S. is headed for a strong recovery as we witness an increasing number of signs of doubt,'' said Shohgo Nagaya, foreign exchange manager at Nomura Trust and Banking Co. ``Now is not the time to buy the dollar.''

U.S. orders for durable goods unexpectedly fell 0.6 percent in March, the first decline since November, while new home sales dropped 3.1 percent, instead of an expected 0.9 percent rise. A report today may also show sales of previously owned homes declined 6.1 percent in March.
