Tokyo, April 25 (Bloomberg) -- Fujitsu Ltd., the world's third-biggest mobile-phone memory-chip maker, said it had a record loss last fiscal year because of the cost of cutting jobs and reorganizing its semiconductor businesses.

Tokyo-based Fujitsu had a loss of 382.5 billion yen ($2.95 billion), or 192.98 yen a share, in the year ended March 31, compared with net income of 8.5 billion yen, or 4.33 yen, a year earlier, it said in a statement to the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Full- year sales fell 8.7 percent to 5 trillion yen.

In the quarter ended last month, the company posted a loss of 102 billion yen compared with profit of 60 billion yen a year earlier. Sales fell 12 percent to 1.56 trillion yen.

The loss was narrower than the 108 billion yen loss average forecast by five analysts surveyed by Bloomberg news.
