According to the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation data base, the Prudhoe Bay oil fields and Trans-Alaska Pipeline have caused an average of 407 spills annually on the North Slope since 1996. From 1994 to 1999, approximately 1,600 spills occurred involving more than 1.2 million gallons of oil, diesel fuel, acid, biocide, ethylene glycol, drilling fluid, produced water and other liquids.

* Let's see 407 each year that's 4070 every decade and 40700 every century. Not bad so long as someone's making a profit. gg
