I can understand why you feel that way. This is such an appalling situation. I think the Catholic Church in the United States will next suffer fiscally as it is now suffering spiritually, and I'm not sure that's necessarily a good thing. I think of Catholic schools, which provide a good private education at a small cost, of Catholic Charities, one of the major means of adoption in this country, of all the retired priests and nuns who have served, and served well, for years and years, now relying on the Church to provide for them in retirement.
All of these programs will suffer terribly. All of these people. And still I completely understand where you're coming from.
What a fucking mess. How despicably selfish and short-sighted the hierarchy of the Catholic Church has been.
