Jobless Claims -31K to 421K; ECI +0.8%; both numbers better than expected
Jobless Claims fell to 421K vs the 425K consensus; the numbers continue to be above-trend due to extended benefit filings but are slowly coming down. The Employment Cost Index rose 0.8% in Q1, which was below the consensus and prior qtr's gains of 0.9%, and indicates that cost pressures remain limited. Both reports are slightly positive but are unlikely to have any market impact.
