The New York Times and the Washington Post are not perfect - I am thinking of a story in the New York Times a couple of years ago about the ice at the North Pole melting - turns out this is an annual phenomenon. But I believe they ache to get it right. In recent years, I think the New York Times has done a much worse job of keeping its editiorial page separate from its reporting than the Wall Street Journal, particularly wrt their Mideast coverage. There are any number of stories I could point out where the NY Times has not reported lies, but has overreported the half of the story that supported their take on the Mideast, while underreporting the half that does not support their take. For example, in Israeli politics they always overreport Labor and underreport Likud activities. In Feb., Peace Now held a rally in Tel Aviv with about 15,000 - 30,000 people (I take the range from the varying estimates in Haaretz and the Jerusalem Post). The New York Times reported it as 30,000 and ran a front-page story. In March, Likud held a right-wing rally in Tel Aviv with about 60,000 - 100,000 people. The New York Times reported it as 30,000 and buried the mention deep in an article on Israeli military affairs, even though the same paper had an article on Israeli politics as well, which did not mention the rally.

the New York Crimes and the Washington Compost. He also refuses to watch CNN. Only listens to talk radio and watch's Fox, I guess. I have quit watching TV news except for breaking stories. Not because of the slant, but because it is boring if you "ride the net" like we all do here. The stories I have read in the last 24 hours on Argentina, for instance, would have got little or no play from any TV news. The one I posted on Argentinian Jews moving to Israel was very good. It really explains the tragedy of Argentina and the way Israel treats immigrating Jews well. If anyone here missed it, please go back and read it. Lindybill@themidnightsculkerstrikesagain.com
