But who were the lame idiots who attacked Israel to begin with

I would say a small bunch of economically impoverished people

Try to tell that to either side at this stage of the game.

One has the concept of an eye for an eye and the other has the concept there is more in after life than life.

They both could use a Jesus like diplomat right now who stressed forgive and taught talk constructive instead of act destructive.

Al, my reason for making these posts is because I believe that peace must triumph over war and goodness must triumph over evil. Accordingly, I also believe that people of goodwill should speak out for what they want and stand up against that which they don't.

Without any doubt, the situation in the MidEast is explosive and can set in motion a massive war, if not a world war. It is also clear that the US, being the only superpower, could force both sides to the negotiation table and insist that they make peace. The situation in Kosovo was not all that different.

Yes, I understand that there is long-standing bad blood. Also that both sides have made mistakes etc etc. As I see it, however, the fundamental problem is that Israel will not return to the 1967 boundaries nor will it give back the Golan Heights to Syria. But there are ways, other than war, that such land disputes can be settled. One such way is through payment. After all, didn't the US buy Alaska from Russia and Louisiana from France?! Why can't Israel buy the various bits of land from whoever? That would be a lot cheaper in money, and certainly in lives, than making protracted war.

There are in fact civilized ways of settling differences. That's all I'm appealing for.
