Fred,
As you well know, Jews are not immune to bigotry and violence. I have fought that too, every time i get the chance. In the mideast it seems to me that for 53 years one side has wanted to live in peace while the other side first uses war, and now terror to prevent just that. The Palestinian people have been indeed been hurt more by arab leaders including arafat who just wont let them live in peace while the jews are in part of palestine even if it were a sliver. And most of that is not religion based, i am afraid, it is more to do about using the blame game to mask the failures of those same leaders. Much the same way slaveholders gave poor whites in the south more status than blacks and allowed them to oppress as well. This way the antiquated ways of the plantation rulers could be maintained. mike
PS Jerome doesnt get how we can be pro something without hating the other guy. Those 3 boys yesterday were a horror. No one sent them--even Hamas stepped back a bit from the abyss. These suicides are more like columbine than anything else. These kids need hope not rhetoric. I have twisted a bit to the left of you because i am hoping Sharon can see the nuances here. And perhaps a little help to the saudis now might help. OY

>>>the history of antisemitism and the Catholic Church.--<<<

There has been a lot of antisemitism in the Catholic Church starting about 1900. I never understood the reason or the rational for it. I would view the last 100 years as a period of Religious intolerance. Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims and other religious groups created reasons for distrust based on nothing more than historical grievances.
