Pakistan has agreed in principle to extend logistic support to the US-led coalition forces for a minimum of five years.
“Earlier there was no time-specific commitment from Pakistani to provide logistic support to the US and allied forces,” informed sources told Daily Times on Thursday.

“Pakistan’s agreeing to provide logistic support for five years is a decision which has strings attached to many other policy decisions of the US government, which are likely to benefit Pakistan,” these sources added.
These sources maintained that logistic support is not only for military purposes, but it will help the multi-national giants with US roots to see that they are protected in Afghanistan, since they are all set to bag major projects during the re-construction of the war torn country. “The agreement to the period has come after the last meeting between President Musharaf and US Secretary of State Colin-Powell,” the sources maintained.
Pakistan will get $60 million as rent for the operational bases it has given to the coalition forces.

Agencies add: Covert US military teams have been quietly participating in attacks on suspected Al Qaeda hide-outs inside Pakistan in recent weeks, opening a new front in the battle along the Afghan-Pakistan border, the Washington Post newspaper reported on Thursday.
