They did come around in 1947 and recognized UN partition. Only the Israeli state was set up in 1947, not a Palestinian state. Simultaneously, a huge Palestinian refugee population was created. From where do you think they came? Arab states did not recognize Israel nor they recognized Palestinians. Israel managed to survive though. Was it about constant attacks from Israel that fueled that hatred in arab world? Because non of the arab countries are pro-Palestinians but they are rather anti-Israel. You and I both know the Israelis are hated for several reasons........a Jewish state was carved out of a region that is predominately Arab/Muslim so that they are seen as interlopers. Not only that but the Israelis have made a modern success of their country. Furthermore, they have benefitted from considerable aid [$3 billion per year] given by the US which has enabled them immensely to build a very lethal war machine. They are now the region's superpower. And they occupy land once intended for the Palestinians and their new state, and intend to continue to occupy those lands even after the new state of Palestine has formed. So what's the confusion here? In fact you can now explain to me why you are surprised that the Arabs hate Israel? During the war that broke out in 1948, the Palestinians were encouraged fighting and other Arabs to flee their homes their homes in Israel. I have not found out what happened to their lands, possessions, etc. Did they get reimbursed from the Israelis? Do you know? ted
