Judge William Chandler III of the Delaware Chancery Court instructed
attorneys on both sides to file post trial briefs by midnight Friday and said
he will hand down his decision "very quickly."
An attorney close to the case said he expects a ruling as early as Monday.
Chandler already demonstrated his ability for making quick, well-thought-out
decisions when he ruled against H-P's motion to dismiss the lawsuit a day
after the close of a hearing to consider that motion on April 7.
The three-day trial ended Thursday afternoon. Fiorina, who left the
courthouse immediately upon the close of the trial, said she is "very
confident" of a favorable ruling for H-P.
Hewlett hung around after the trial discussing marathons and music with
reporters but declined to comment on the trial itself. Neal, his attorney,
said they were "very appreciative" of the court's efforts during the trial but
would not speculate on how Chandler might rule.
