SPSEIFERT, my oh my. MRJCMONEY is a frequent poster on value thread and his comments have always been rational and insightful. It seems that many on this board are emotionally distraught and can not accept input which reflects negatively on their poor investment decision. I have made many poor investment decisions and subsequently I like to get input from all sides so as to determine my next step.
I sold tyc May puts last Thursday on assumption that I would like to own tyc at 16.6 After reading this board I have changed my mind and want no part of the company. What particularly troubles me is the reported reluctance of possible acquirers to take on the plastics business. TYC has been so opaque in their disclosures that I would be afraid that there is more than just the financial aspects that are troubling. Is it possible that environmental issues(such as the mercury dumping) that could be troubling?
I have been casually following tyc for years and continued to silently wonder when things might blow up. Like T they seemed to have no limit in their attempt to acquire overpriced assets. Several major market worries will probably hold down the market(in general) for some time.
Debt
Derivatives
Unreasonable acquisitions
Executive greed, ie option mania.
