Good perspective texas. Options are tricky and one has to be especially careful with timing. I'm lousy at it so I try to only touch the things with kid gloves. The 3000% I made on QCOM leaps was the exception...well, actually not since about 70% of that gain was taken away from me before I wised up.

On another subject:

The Utilities holder (IDU) is touching its lower uptrend line. May be a good trading play here if this uptrend line can hold.

(oh, and yes, sometimes i get uncovered puts put to me rather than buy them back

Can you explain to me how this actually happens and how often?

i got some f put to me

f? Freeport, Fransisco, just a letter?

17.50 + 1.50 = 19.00, the other made up from the premium selling the original order?

also selling time puts you on the side of the "house." in options that means you make money about 75% to 90% of the time

Being the house only hurts when you get too greedy like Merrill Lynch<GG>. Only play against the house, small amounts, when you're sure the house is going to change sides.

Good observations, thanks

Bob

gold chemistry

i have been scanning the nem 10-K lately, and i wonder if someone one here knows gold extraction chemistry and technology. i really only want to know what kind of cyanide is used in the heap leaching method, e.g., sodium cyanide (hope it's not this), potassium cyanide, etc., but i won't be unhappy if i am inundated with info about gold extraction. does anyone have direct links to this kind of stuff?

i think i understand the gold sulfide extraction method. apparently they roast the ground ore using heat, pressure, and oxygen to get the sulfides off the gold molecules. i suppose they get sulfur dioxide with this process.

another method uses a carbon electode, some kind of cyanide solution, and water with finely ground ore. this method sounds very similar to the way aluminum is extracted with carbon electrodes. this gold extraction method must use a ton of electricity.

thanks for any help.
