the Itanium 2 system had double the memory - 32GB, as opposed to 16GB. I don't think that current Xeon systems can equip more than 16GB, so one advantage to the 64-bit Itanium 2 system is that you can.

Good point. But I was under the impression that the max physical memory that can accessed by Xeon is 36 bits (with playing some funky game with the memory), which would make it 4 GB x 16 = 64 GB. Or was the limit imposed by the number of memory slots / size of the DIMM?
