Dan, Re: "about 700K wafers"

Who came up with the 700K wafer number? You or Intel?

<font color=blue>x86-64 update via Email

From: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de>
To: announce@x86-64.org

Subject: x86-64 linux utilities update

A preliminary version of a linux/x86-64 64bit strace port has been released.
It is based on the SuSE 8.0 strace. It only supports tracing of 64bit
programs currently, for 32bit programs you need to use a 32bit strace
currently.

ftp://ftp.x86-64.org/pub/linux/strace/strace-4.4-x86_64.tar.bz2

The x86-64 modutils has been integrated into the latest official modutils.
Available at:

ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/modutils/v2.4/modutils-2.4.15.tar.bz2

The x86-64 ksymoops has been integrated into the latest official ksymoops.
Available at:

ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/ksymoops/v2.4/ksymoops-2.4.5.tar.bz2

Dan3 Re..Now run the same numbers for Intel - about 700K wafers to produce 35K chips - 20 good die per wafer. <<<<<<<<<<<

Boy, have you got some nerve. Elmer has already stated that the other 14 fabs produce chipsets. Can't you get it through your imbecelic head you twit that, the report of TSMC fabbing Intels chipsets was just to throw you off. In fact Intel's yields are so great that TSMC is just a front company with no fabs, and Intel is secretly fabbing all of their production on the side. When you understand that, then you will understand what world class yields are all about.

PS. Just to show you my respect for Elmer,I also will apologize before I get kicked off the thread; and say I was just kidding about the imbecilic and twit thing. I just did it for effect.

Dan3:

"Re: So given the 4.5M Athlons that AMD produced that quarter out of Dresden, that means that they were able to get 4500/50 = 90 good die per wafer.

Now run the same numbers for Intel - about 700K wafers to produce 35K chips - 20 good die per wafer."

Dan3, now aren't you forgetting again once again that INTC is using 80% of its fab space for non-cpu production...i.e. 80% of its fab space to produce the 20% of its non-cpu revenues???
