You can spin it any way you want.

I'll confess to having inadequate knowledge of the history of this region. But for the life of me, as one outside looking in, I cannot comprehend how Israel is at fault in this. I am not aware of Israel targeting civilians in the recent past (although civilians have no doubt died in the crossfire). From my perspective they are forced to defend themselves against attacks on their civilians.

War is one thing; attacks against civilians simply cannot ever be justifiable in this day. Civilians get killed in wars, but should not be targeted. As I see it, Arafat is targeting civilians while Sharon is attempting to defend against those attacks.

How is my understanding wrong?

re: Sharon and Arafat
give me a break, you are comparing soldier and a terrorist.....
You may dislike Sharon but don't put them at the same level.
re: oppressive and expansionist regime.
In order to be oppressive one should oppress someone and all Israel wants is to be left alone. Israel demonstrated it's willingness to give back the land but the offer was not taken...
In order to be expansionist one should fight to expend either territory or influence. Israel fight in self-defense
re: You are just playing with words.
you see it as a spin and I see it as truth.
